We are the largest and one of the best cigar producers in the world with brands such as Fuente, Davidoff, Reyes Cigars, La Aurora, La Flor Dominicana and Quesada all being grown in the Cibao Region. Our fertile soil and tropical climate make for a perfect blend to grow the crop. Connoisseurs prize our cigars for their distinctive flavour profile, which is simply richer and more pleasing than any other cigars in the world.
‘‘Comida Criolla'' is what we call our traditional Dominican food and the best way to get to know the country. We are very proud of our cuisine because the variety of local dishes available, is a direct representation of our unique history and cross-cultural influences of African, Spanish, and Taino traditions.
Rum also known as the Sailors drink used to be a currency between sailors in the Caribbean and the history of Dominican Rum dates back to the 1620s. There are many rules and regulations in the DR that help raise the level and quality of our local rum. The first Distillery ‘Bermudez’ dates back to the 1890’s and we are the biggest exporter of Rum in the Caribbean. We have access to multiple experiences around the island for Rum fans.
With the highest mountain range in the Caribbean and our tropical climate our coffee is very similar to other regions in the area, containing a bold flavour with deeper earthier taste. We mainly produce Arabica beans and a small % of Robusta beans. The Barahona region produces the best quality coffee in the country.
